It was our great pleasure to organize the 2026 International SWAT Conference and Workshops (15–19 June), together with USDA ARS and Texas A&M AgriLife Research, at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the largest university in Greece, which offers a multidisciplinary environment, making it an ideal venue for SWAT, where addressing water and environmental challenges requires expertise from many different scientific fields.
The conference was held under the auspices of the School of Agriculture. We are also grateful to our sponsors, ScientAct and MDPI Hydrology, and sincerely thank them for their valuable contribution.
We were truly delighted to host around 150 participants from North America, Europe, Asia, and many other parts of the world. Seeing such a diverse and international community was a reminder of how important collaboration is in addressing the challenges of water resources management and sustainable river basin management.
The conference provided an opportunity not only to exchange scientific knowledge and discuss new developments, but also to strengthen existing collaborations and create new ones. Both the workshops and the conference were inspiring, productive, and enjoyable, while our social events—a boat cruise in the Thermaic Gulf followed by the conference dinner near the White Tower—offered everyone a chance to relax, continue discussions in a more informal setting, and enjoy the Greek hospitality.
Thank you all for joining us in Thessaloniki for the 2026 SWAT Conference and Workshops. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future.
Ήταν μεγάλη μας χαρά να διοργανώσουμε το Διεθνές Συνέδριο και τα Εργαστήρια SWAT 2026 (15–19 Ιουνίου), σε συνεργασία με το USDA ARS και το Texas A&M AgriLife Research, στο Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης, υπό την αιγίδα του Τμήματος Γεωπονίας και με επιστημονικό υπεύθυνο τον Επίκ. Καθηγητή Ιωάννη Παναγόπουλο. Ευχαριστούμε θερμά και τους χορηγούς μας, την εταιρία ScientAct και το περιοδικό MDPI Hydrology, για τη συμβολή τους.
Χαιρόμαστε ιδιαίτερα που φιλοξενήσαμε περίπου 150 συμμετέχοντες από τη Βόρεια Αμερική, την Ευρώπη, την Ασία και πολλά άλλα μέρη του κόσμου. Το να βλέπουμε μια τόσο ποικιλόμορφη και διεθνή κοινότητα ήταν μια υπενθύμιση του πόσο σημαντική είναι η συνεργασία στην αντιμετώπιση των προκλήσεων της διαχείρισης των υδατικών πόρων και της βιώσιμης διαχείρισης των λεκανών απορροής ποταμών.
Το συνέδριο παρείχε την ευκαιρία όχι μόνο για ανταλλαγή επιστημονικής γνώσης και συζήτηση των νέων εξελίξεων, αλλά και για ενίσχυση των υφιστάμενων συνεργασιών και δημιουργία νέων, ενώ οι κοινωνικές μας εκδηλώσεις —μια κρουαζιέρα με σκάφος στον Θερμαϊκό Κόλπο ακολουθούμενη από το δείπνο του συνεδρίου κοντά στον Λευκό Πύργο— προσέφεραν σε όλους την ευκαιρία να χαλαρώσουν, να συνεχίσουν τις συζητήσεις σε ένα πιο ανεπίσημο περιβάλλον και να απολαύσουν την ελληνική φιλοξενία.
Ευχαριστούμε όλους που βρέθηκαν μαζί μας στη Θεσσαλονίκη για το Συνέδριο και τα Εργαστήρια SWAT 2026 και ανυπομονούμε να τους καλωσορίσουμε ξανά στο μέλλον.
