During your studies you may need guidance, counselling, or help resolving problems. The School and AUTh offer support structures covering academic, professional and administrative needs.
Academic Advisor
Every student is assigned an Academic Advisor, a faculty member, for guidance on academic progress, course selection and study planning. Office hours are posted on the School’s website.
Complaints & Appeals Procedure
Students and doctoral candidates can file a complaint or appeal when an action, decision or behaviour does not comply with study regulations, ethical principles, equal treatment or the University’s proper functioning.
AUTh’s complaints and appeals process follows three stages: direct resolution with the instructor, Academic Advisor or Secretariat; a written complaint to the Academic Advisor or Student Ombudsperson, escalated to the Head of School if needed; and, if unresolved, an appeal to the School Assembly for a final decision, usually within thirty days.
Complaints & Appeals Regulation
Student Ombudsperson
An independent body reviewing student complaints about the University’s operation and safeguarding student rights.
Equal Access Unit (Disability/Special Needs)
Supports students with disabilities or special educational needs, ensuring equal access to all AUTh activities.
AUTh Gender Equality & Anti-Discrimination Committee
The mission of the Committee is to promote gender equality and combat discrimination on the grounds of sex, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, health/disability, age or sexual orientation at all levels of operation and in all processes and activities of academic life. The Committee contributes to preventing and addressing all forms of discrimination and to preventing and addressing sexism, sexual harassment and all forms of harassing behaviour at the institution.
Counselling & Psychological Support Centre
Free, confidential psychological support and counselling for students facing academic or personal difficulties, by appointment.
